Lilith Version 8 - tools and API reference
Version 8 adds self-improvement tools and ToolCategory metadata (core, addon, self) on top of Version 7 memory, workspace, and addon tools.

List workspace files
Lists all files and subdirectories located inside both the config and output workspace folders.
Read workspace file
Reads a project/document file from the workspace (output, then config). Do NOT use for user facts — use retrieve_memory or get_memory_at_path.
Scenario run
Runs a Version9 scenario from backend/load/Scenario_
Self improve backup live
Copies the live source tree to backups/{timestamp}. Run before risky edits.
Self improve build sandbox
dotnet build Release for sandbox LilithConsole.
Self improve create sandbox
Clones the live source tree into sandbox for isolated edits and builds.
Self improve generate tool
Generates tool scaffold in sandbox from saved spec (call set_tool_spec first) or from JSON args. Requires sandbox.
Self improve invoke sandbox tool
Invokes the generated tool from the built sandbox DLL and compares output to the saved spec expected result.
Self improve promote sandbox
Promotes verified sandbox over live, deploys built DLLs to this console, and restarts into the upgraded build. Call only after VERIFICATION PASSED.
Self improve set tool spec
Saves the tool-under-test spec to workspace config (step 1 of smoke test). Example: tool_name ping_self, description Returns pong, category self, invoke_body return \
Self improve verify sandbox tool
Builds sandbox, runs design tests, checks tool exists in source, and invokes the tool (TOOL TEST PASSED). Uses saved spec if omitted.
Write workspace file
Writes a project/document file to the workspace output folder. Do NOT use for user facts — use store_memory with paths like user/name instead.

Change name
Changes the name of the assistant.
Execute tool
Execute a specific tool by name with the provided arguments.
Get date
Returns today's local date on this machine.
Get memory at path
Reads one exact memory entry by hierarchical path (e.g. user/preferences/color).
Get time
Returns the current local time on this machine.
Retrieve memory
Semantic search over vector memory. Use when you do not know the exact path (e.g. user profession, favorite color, pets).
Search tools
Search for available tools by keyword. Returns a JSON list of matching tool names and descriptions. Call with an empty query to list all tools.
Store memory
Stores a persistent user fact in hierarchical vector memory (NOT workspace files). Use for preferences, name, job, pets, etc. Paths like user/name or user/preferences/color.

Change voice
Changes the text-to-speech (TTS) voice. Available voices include: af_heart, af_bella, af_sarah, af_nicole, af_sky, am_adam, am_michael, bf_emma, bf_isabella, bm_george, bm_lewis.
